CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Mahavir International, a prestigious organization that operates over 350 branches across India in various sectors such as social welfare, animal welfare, health, education, medicine, women’s empowerment, environmental protection, and water conservation, was honored with the Prithvi Award 2024. The award was presented by the ESG Research Foundation at a program held in New Delhi. Mahavir International was recognized for its transparent operations, its efforts for the welfare of its employees and beneficiaries, and its work in the environmental sector, particularly in reducing carbon emissions.
CA Veer Anil Jain, the International President of Mahavir International, received the award on behalf of the organization. He was accompanied by Veer Ravindra Kumar Jain, International Director of Environmental Protection and other services. Veer Anil Jain mentioned that the organization is currently celebrating its Golden Jubilee year and is serving various cities and towns in India through numerous important service projects like E-Chaupal, Dosti Se Seva Ki Aur, Cloth Bag, Meri Saheli, and Vatsalya Project. Mahavir International adheres to all three standards of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG).
The chief guest of the award ceremony was former Cabinet Minister Suresh Prabhu, with special guests including former NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar, GAIL India Chairman Sandeep Gupta, Central Bank of India CEO MV Rao, environmental activist and film actor Vivek Anand Oberoi, and ERF founder-director Atul Kumar Gupta, along with Deepak Batra and Praveen Garg, all of whom congratulated Mahavir International on this achievement.
The award distribution event was held at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi, where the Global ESG Conference took place throughout the day. Attendees included Dr. Justice Vineet Kothari, Federation of Indian Industries Director General Deepak Jain, and former CMD of Canara Bank Rajiv Kishore Dubey, along with representatives from various banks and industry organizations, who shared their thoughts on ESG.
It is noteworthy that the Global ESG Conference aims to raise awareness in India about reducing carbon footprints, achieving the net-zero target by 2070, promoting timely and fair reporting by all industries, ensuring employee health and well-being, providing high-quality products to customers, and adopting environmentally friendly practices. It emphasized that industries should plan and operate while considering profit, people, and the planet. Federation of Indian Industries Director General Deepak Jain mentioned that a minimum of ₹5 lakh crore will be required for upgrading eco-friendly technologies in small industries and achieving the net-zero target for carbon emissions. He emphasized that government assistance will be essential in this effort.
