CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A grand MOU agreement program for the K.R. Malkani Sindhi Journalism and Communication Center was organized at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCU), Bhopal. On this occasion, guests were warmly welcomed, and the Center’s Coordinator Jaya Surjani provided detailed insights into the role of the center and the significance of the MOU.
During the program, Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari described this initiative as a new beginning for the university. Highlighting the importance of Sindhi culture, language, and journalism, he stated that the center will connect the younger generation with their history and cultural heritage. Referring to the Sindhu Festival held in Indore and the book “The Sindh Story,” he emphasized that the center will play a crucial role in promoting Sindhi society and culture.
Chairman of the National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language, Sunil Baburao Kulkarni, stated that the center is significant for the development of journalism and literature in the Sindhi language. He noted that under the National Education Policy, emphasis has been placed on education in the mother tongue, and through this center, the council will be able to conduct year-round programs. He also stressed the importance of values alongside knowledge.

Shankar Lalwani, Member of Parliament from Indore, described the occasion as a historic moment and said that MCU’s initiative is a pioneering step in the country dedicated to the development of Sindhi journalism. He emphasized the need to pass on the glorious history of Sindh and the spirit of Sindhiyat to the younger generation.
Former Director Ravi Prakash Tekchandani highlighted the personality and contributions of K.R. Malkani, stating that the center is dedicated to his memory and legacy. Former Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh State Human Rights Commission, Manohar Mamtani, suggested that similar efforts should be undertaken in other states as well.
During the program, Joint Director of the Public Relations Department Ashok Manwani shed light on the contribution of linguistic journalism in the freedom movement. The event was anchored by Deepika Saxena, while Registrar P. Shashikala appreciated the contributions of the experts and guests present.
On this occasion, heads of departments, senior members, officials, and students of the university were present and expressed their support for this historic initiative.
