CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: After meeting with Shiv Sena’s (UBT) Uddhav Thackeray, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday met Nationalist Congress Party (SP) president Sharad Pawar during her first visit to Mumbai after the Lok Sabha election results.
The Trinamool Congress leader, who is on a day-long visit to Mumbai, earlier met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence “Matoshree” in Bandra.
While addressing a press conference with Thackeray, Mamata said that the NDA government may not last for long. “This is not a stable government and it may not continue also,” said Mamata.
“Khela has begun, It will go on,” Banerjee said when asked to elaborate.
While reacting to the declaration of observing June 25 as ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas’, Banerjee said the times associated with the Emergency were being seen most during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Banerjee also said that no one was consulted when the three laws – Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) that replaced the Indian Penal Code(IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure(CrPC) and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively, were tabled in Parliament.
“We do not support Emergency….(but) charity begins at home,” she asserted.
Mamata said that she would campaign for Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) in the Maharashtra assembly polls likely to be held in October-November. Both Shiv Sena (UBT) and Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress are part of the Opposition’s INDIA bloc.
