CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) has moved into the 1201–1400 global band in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, improving from the 1501+ band in the 2026 rankings. The university’s position among ranked Indian institutions has also moved from 98th among 128 institutions in 2026 to 63rd among 170 institutions in 2027, according to data shared by the university.

The latest ranking comes as Manav Rachna marks 30 years of its educational journey. The university said that research quality emerged as its strongest performance pillar in the latest rankings, reflecting efforts to strengthen research infrastructure, funding, intellectual property, innovation and the translation of research into applications.

MRIIRS has reported more than ₹850 lakh in research funding from organisations including the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, Indian Council of Medical Research and Indian Council of Social Science Research, among others.

Its research areas include artificial intelligence and data science, biotechnology and life sciences, sustainable materials and green technologies, health sciences and clinical research, as well as management, economics and policy. The university has also reported more than 6,000 research publications and over 300 patents.

The institution’s innovation ecosystem includes the Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Foundation, which the university says has supported more than 110 startups through mentorship, infrastructure, incubation, funding support and industry linkages.

THE World University Rankings 2027 assess more than 2,200 research-intensive institutions across 118 countries and territories using indicators covering areas such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
