CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was cremated with full state honors on Saturday at Nigambodh Ghat. His mortal remains were brought to the cremation ground in Delhi on a military gun carriage, where he was accorded a salute by the three armed forces. The cremation rituals were performed with state honors.

Manmohan Singh’s wife, Gursharan Kaur, and daughters Upinder Singh (65), Daman Singh (61), and Amrit Singh (58) were present at Nigambodh Ghat. The family also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The final rites were performed by one of his daughters.

At Nigambodh Ghat, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and other senior Congress leaders paid their respects. President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also attended to bid farewell to the former Prime Minister.

During the cremation, Manmohan Singh was adorned with his iconic blue turban, a color he chose as a signature to honor his time at Cambridge University.

Earlier in the morning, at 9:30 AM, his mortal remains were brought from his residence to the Congress headquarters, where the final journey commenced. Rahul Gandhi accompanied the body in the hearse.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday night at the age of 92. He had been unwell for a long time. After he fell unconscious at his home, he was brought to Delhi’s AIIMS at 8:06 PM. According to the hospital bulletin, he breathed his last at 9:51 PM.
