CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Maratha reservation movement leader Manoj Jarange Patil has stood by his decision to march to Mumbai. On Tuesday, September 15, he left Antarwali Sarati in Jalna for Mumbai. Jarange has said he will go to Mumbai despite not receiving police permission and, if needed, will move ahead alone.
Jarange plans to hold an agitation and hunger strike at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. However, Mumbai Police have refused permission for a fast at Azad Maidan. Jarange has sent another letter to the administration, requesting permission for at least 50 people to take part in the agitation. He has said the prescribed rules and conditions for the protest will be followed.
Jarange has made it clear that if permission is not granted by Tuesday afternoon, he will approach the court and apply for permission to hold the agitation. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed concern over a protest in Mumbai during Ganeshotsav and said the government has accepted several demands of the Maratha community, while some demands are linked to the legal process.
In view of the Mumbai march, police have made extensive security arrangements along the route. Attention is now focused on what position the administration and the court take next on Jarange’s agitation and permission for it.
