CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Samajwadi Party MLA Manoj Paras has been sent to jail after a court dismissed his bail plea in connection with a 2020 attempted murder case. The incident stemmed from a complaint filed by Chhatar Singh, who alleged that on 29 September 2020, he was attacked with knives on Jhālu Road.

The court—presided over by Judge Shantanu Tyagi—found that Paras failed to appear as required and rejected his bail application, resulting in the revocation of his bail and his subsequent imprisonment. Prior to this, a non-bailable warrant had been issued against him, reflecting the serious nature of the charges and his noncompliance with court summons.

This marks a significant development in the regional political and criminal landscape, where an elected representative now faces legal consequences for violent allegations that date back nearly five years. The case has drawn attention both for the severity of the crime and for implications involving local political accountability and the judicial process in Uttar Pradesh.
