CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Dr. Manoj Patel, Producer at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, has won the First Prize at the 6th National Film Festival organized by the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) for his documentary film titled “Parivartan: The Story of a Village, Through the Lens of Cinema.”

Held under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, this prestigious film festival saw participation from filmmakers across the country, all presenting films centered around rural development. Dr. Patel’s documentary was awarded in the “Society” theme category. The overarching theme of this year’s festival was “Family Life, Society, and Economic Structure.”

In his film “Parivartan”, Dr. Patel powerfully portrays the social and economic transformation of Indian villages, alongside the changing depiction of villages in Indian cinema. The film not only captures real grassroots changes but also reflects on how cinema’s narrative around rural India has evolved over time.

The direction and editing of the documentary were done by Dr. Manoj Patel himself, while the screenplay was written by Dr. Keshav Patel. The film’s narration was voiced by Sandeep Sharma.

Speaking on the achievement, Dr. Patel remarked that this award has served as a source of inspiration for all artists and technicians working in the space of rural development and cinema. He expressed hope that more filmmakers will now come forward to create meaningful cinema focused on rural issues.

Notably, Dr. Patel’s earlier documentaries “Bacha: The Rising Village” and “Go-War”, both based on rural themes, have also been awarded and critically acclaimed. He has also completed his doctoral research focused on cinema.
