The story of Indian Police Service officer Manzil Saini is linked to education, determination and a challenging journey in policing. Born in Delhi, Manzil Saini graduated in physics from St Stephen’s College. She then pursued higher education at the Delhi School of Economics, where she won a gold medal. After completing her studies, she worked in the private sector for about three years.

After her marriage in 2000, she decided to continue advancing her career. In 2005, she cleared the Union Public Service Commission civil services examination in her first attempt and became an IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. According to reports, she appeared for the examination during pregnancy.

Manzil Saini’s first major posting was as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Moradabad. During this period, she was associated with the investigation into the widely discussed illegal kidney transplant case. Later, she handled police responsibilities in several districts of Uttar Pradesh. In 2016, she was appointed Senior Superintendent of Police of Lucknow, becoming the first woman officer to hold the post in the state capital.

During her police service, her work led to her being referred to in the media and police circles as “Lady Singham”. She has also received various service honours, along with a gallantry medal. According to the official records of Uttar Pradesh Police, Manzil Saini is a 2005-batch IPS officer and is currently posted as Inspector General of Police, Vigilance.
