Maurya Sparks Split Buzz in Samajwadi Party
CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A fresh political storm has erupted in Uttar Pradesh after Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya claimed that 25-26 Members of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party are ready to break away from the party. His remarks have intensified speculation about internal dissent within the opposition camp ahead of the crucial 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Maurya asserted that the BJP is not attempting to engineer a split but suggested that several SP lawmakers may leave on their own due to growing dissatisfaction.
The claim gained further traction after Uttar Pradesh minister Om Prakash Rajbhar repeatedly warned that a major rebellion was brewing inside the Samajwadi Party and urged party chief Akhilesh Yadav to safeguard his MPs.
However, the Samajwadi Party has strongly rejected these allegations. Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of spreading rumors and attempting to destabilize opposition parties, while SP MP Afzal Ansari dismissed reports of any rift, insisting that the party remains united.
With conflicting claims and denials dominating political discourse, the controversy has added a new dimension to Uttar Pradesh’s evolving electoral landscape.
