CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, has earned the distinction of being included among the top 50 universities in the India Today Best University Ranking 2026. It is worth noting that MCU is the country’s first and oldest government university established for study and research in specialised areas such as mass communication, journalism and media. At present, MCU campuses run UG and PG courses in professional and industry-oriented subjects including Computer and IT, New Media Technology, Printing and Packaging, and Management. In this ranking, MCU has been included among the country’s top 10 mass communication universities. It is also the only media university included among the top 50 universities in the ranking.
In the ranking survey, MCU has been placed 40th in the university category. In last year’s list, MCU was ranked 43rd. MCU secured an excellent position in this nationwide ranking, which was based on various parameters including brand reputation and governance, academic research excellence, infrastructure, leadership and student placement. Expressing happiness over the performance, MCU Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari said the university is continuously working towards academic quality and educational advancement. Among universities offering media courses in the country, MCU has been a leader in integrating AI into its curricula. The achievement has also brought happiness among the university’s teachers, employees and students.
