CNN Central News and Network – ITDC India Express / ITDC News Bhopal:
The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication successfully conducted a “Grains and Water” campaign on the university campus. Considering the changing weather and rising temperatures, the initiative aimed to ensure the protection of birds by providing them with water and grains.
Under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari, the campaign proved to be both inspiring and educational for students and volunteers. As part of the initiative, NSS volunteers placed clay pots and containers filled with grains and water in front of the university canteen and on various trees across the campus. Volunteers ensured that birds had sufficient food and water and faced no difficulties due to the heat.

The program was skillfully coordinated by Program Officers Gajendra Singh Avasya and Manisha Verma. The initiative was conceptualized by Chairperson Tavishi Devrani to promote a sense of responsibility among herself and other volunteers. She emphasized that arranging food and water for birds is not merely an act, but a symbol of our responsibility and sensitivity toward nature and living beings. Her message helped instill compassion and empathy among students and volunteers.
This campaign is evidence that volunteers are willing to contribute actively not only for themselves but also for society and the environment. Students participated with enthusiasm and dedication, ensuring that all birds had regular access to food and water.
Thus, the “Grains and Water” campaign was not only successful in protecting birds but also played a vital role in developing a sense of social responsibility, sensitivity, and service among volunteers. The initiative emerged as an inspiring example of social responsibility and environmental conservation within the university campus.
