CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, a heartfelt tribute was paid to the late senior journalist, writer, and member of the university’s grand council, Umesh Upadhyay. During the tribute ceremony held at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Vice Chancellor Prof. K.G. Suresh expressed his shock at Upadhyay’s sudden passing. Referring to Upadhyay as his elder, Prof. Suresh noted that he had worked in several media organizations and had been a companion in his struggles.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Suresh praised Upadhyay’s role in the establishment of the university’s new Department of Media Technology and announced that the department’s conference hall would be named in his honor. Prof. Suresh remarked that maintaining personal relationships was Upadhyay’s asset and that he had actively participated in various programs and meetings at the university. He mentioned that Upadhyay’s relationships with both employers and employees were cordial. Although he started his journalism career in print, Upadhyay did not confine himself to it; he also worked in electronic media, public relations, and media management in various senior roles.

During the tribute, Director of Production Ashish Joshi, Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi, Dean of Academics Prof. P. Shashikala, Registrar Prof. Avinash Vajpayee, Assistant Professor Lokendra Singh, and Assistant Registrar Girish Joshi also shared their thoughts. Students and staff paid their respects by offering flowers at a photograph of the late Umesh Upadhyay.
