CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, operated by the Madhya Pradesh government, has added another feather to its cap. In the latest survey by the prominent magazine “The Week,” MCU has been ranked 27th among state-operated multidisciplinary universities in India. In the research survey conducted in collaboration with Hansa, MCU is listed at the 77th position among the top 100 universities in India. As the first media university in Asia and India’s largest, it also secured the 15th position among the top universities in the Western region.

Welcoming the ranking, Vice-Chancellor K.G. Suresh attributed the university’s continuous growth to teamwork and stated that such rankings help boost the morale of the faculty, staff, and students. He noted that in the past four years, the university has expanded to three new campuses in Bhopal, Rewa, and Datia. Prof. Suresh highlighted that MCU was one of the first universities in the country to implement the National Education Policy 2020. Over the last three years, the university has consistently been ranked among the top media institutions by various surveys, including those by India Today and Open magazines, where it was placed in the top 10.

In addition to journalism and mass communication, the university offers UG, PG, and PhD courses in computer science, management, and library science. It boasts a vast network of 1,600 affiliated study institutions with over 1.5 lakh students. Recently, the university launched India’s latest community radio station, “Radio Karmaveer.” Vice-Chancellor Suresh mentioned that the university is in the process of obtaining NAAC accreditation. He added that apart from media education, the university has recently started departments for cinema studies and Indian languages.
