CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: There is an element within all of us that is a silent witness or observer. This state of stillness is the Shiva element. Nature gives birth to many things every moment. It is the creator. In its form, it is Shakti. Stillness is necessary for the union of Shiva and Shakti. If we want excellence in any action, stillness is essential. In this way, perfection is the union of Shiva and Shakti. This union is necessary for every task, career and our entire life, noted author and motivational speaker Kartikeya Vajpayee said while interacting with students at MCU today. Discussing his book The Unbecoming, Vajpayee said it is the story of a cricketer and his coach who are in search of perfection.
He said intellect and wisdom are two different things. We are born with intellect. It is the cognitive capacity within us. But wisdom is completely different. To attain it, we have to become seekers. It has a direct and deep connection with the purpose of our life. We should think about whether we find the purpose of life, or whether the purpose of life finds us when we are fully prepared. The present time is very unpredictable. Worried by some unknown thought, we are unable to remain in the present. Often we view the present by comparing it with the past or the future. But if we look at the present in terms of the past, it brings sorrow, and if we look at it from the point of view of the future, it gives rise to a kind of hunger or desire. Because of this, we are never able to focus on the present. At the programme organised by the university’s Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Vajpayee gave students several tips for a successful life and career.
Stay in the present while experiencing events
Interacting with students, Kartikeya said the problem of being in the present but not being connected to it arises because of a reduced attention span or lack of concentration. In fact, to increase our attention span, we have to go deeper into experience. When we experience events deeply, there is no thought there. Through our ability to experience, we can move better towards the purpose of life.
Originality is necessary
He said our originality connects us better with the purpose of our life. We often try to become what others want us to be. What should happen is that we should see how we want to view ourselves. That is our original thought about ourselves. In today’s time, digital algorithms have distanced us somewhat from the reality of our lives. If even our idea about ourselves is coming from a digital algorithm, we will remain away from reality. Therefore, it is better that we ask ourselves about ourselves and give time to ourselves. Only then will we be able to remain original in things.
Experience is necessary for creativity
Vajpayee said we can become creative by experiencing life. In the present time, it is very important to remain contemporary or relevant. When we develop the courage to express ourselves in our real form, only then will we be the most honest person towards ourselves.
Concentration is the key to doing better
He said our senses are meant to communicate with the outside world. They make us aware of external things. But when we make them still, a kind of ease blossoms within us. This can also be called Krishna consciousness or the Krishna element. There is an ability or power within us to separate ourselves. If we look at the present from the point of view of the past, we will feel fear, and if we look at it from the perspective of the future, a craving will arise within us. In such a situation, only by staying away from fear and craving and remaining in our real present can we concentrate and do anything better.
Attention is the world’s biggest magic
Kartikeya Vajpayee said that today everyone wants others to give them attention. If someone is a speaker, that person wants people to listen attentively. But if we do not get others’ attention, we become disturbed. For this, we have to be natural. Instead of presenting things in an artificial manner, it is necessary to present them in reality. It is difficult to stop thoughts that come to the mind. These thoughts create a kind of loop, in which our senses keep us entangled. Studies show that an average human being has about 55,000 thoughts in a day. Of these, we are able to experience only about 150 thoughts. Therefore, if we do any work with focus, it can be better.
Asked how one can reduce the pressure of others’ expectations while doing important work, Vajpayee said we want to keep our beliefs very secure. We give great importance to the things we know. This happens because of fear of the unexpected. It happens with all of us. Something good can be done only by coming out of it. He said if we bind ourselves within our own identity, small things will trouble us.
The goal of life is to know oneself
Vajpayee said that, in reality, the ultimate and highest purpose of life is to know oneself. If we are searching for ourselves in a digital algorithm, it is not right. Become a good companion for yourself. Life, in reality, is a journey of discovering oneself. If you connect with any of your work with concentration and can detach yourself from other things, only then can we achieve every goal. He said creativity comes with ease. During the question-and-answer session with students, he said how we experience the importance of time is also very important for moving towards goals.
Presiding over the programme, university Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari said the final goal of students’ lives should not be only to obtain a degree. Apart from receiving formal education, students can do much better work in many fields. He also encouraged students to move ahead in the field of writing. Head of Department Pavitra Shrivastava proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by Vishakha Rajurkar. All students and teachers of the department were present on the occasion.
