CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The two-day Layout Designing Workshop organized by the Department of Journalism at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication concluded successfully. The workshop familiarized students with the evolving landscape of layout and designing in newspapers and other media platforms, along with providing practical training.
Subject experts Jaswant Kushwaha and Dharmendra Kushwaha trained the students in layout skills using Adobe InDesign. The workshop was coordinated by Department Head Rakhi Tiwari and Prof. Shivkumar Vivek.
University Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari had earlier suggested organizing more training programs to enhance students’ practical knowledge, and this workshop was part of that initiative.
On the first day, Jaswant Kushwaha introduced the students to the principles of layout designing along with practical exercises. He emphasized the importance of color and font selection in newspapers. He discussed in detail the careful selection of elements like headlines, subheadlines, flyers, and content, stating that the placement of news in newspapers should ensure a smooth reading experience for the audience.
On the second day, Dharmendra Kushwaha focused more on practical training, familiarizing students with the intricacies of the layout software Adobe InDesign. He also demonstrated the design of newspaper pages, highlighting picture placement and the use of various decorative tools.
Addressing the workshop, Journalism Department Head Rakhi Tiwari highlighted the various aspects of layout and designing in modern journalism and its theoretical importance.
A large number of students attended the workshop, along with senior faculty members of the department, including Ranjan Singh, Satendra Dehriya, and other teachers.
