CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Through the PM Jan Man Yojana, the benefits of development schemes are reaching the remotest corners of society. Addressing the media workshop ‘Vartalap’ organized by PIB Bhopal in Shahdol, Mrs. Manisha Singh, MLA of Jaishingh Nagar, Shahdol, emphasized that our tribal society is significantly benefiting from this scheme. She highlighted that the Jal Jeevan Mission not only provides clean drinking water to people but also reduces diseases caused by contaminated water. Clean drinking water has successfully controlled diseases like cholera and diarrhea. She also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for encouraging the use of millets such as kodo and kutki, which contribute to better health. Mrs. Singh requested journalists to positively report on the constructive work being done under schemes like PM Jan Man and Jal Jeevan Mission.

Addressing the workshop, Shahdol District Collector Tarun Bhatnagar praised the local media’s positive and constructive approach. He stressed the importance of a robust system for understanding public issues and aspirations through journalists. Shahdol is one of the leading districts in Madhya Pradesh in conserving underground water. He further stated that as of March, 75% of rural households in the country have access to clean and safe water through tap connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Prashant Pathrabe, Additional Director General of PIB Bhopal, outlined the workshop’s objectives, emphasizing that PIB acts as a bridge between the government and the media. It disseminates information about the central government’s schemes, initiatives, and policies to the public through the media and gathers feedback. He noted that a similar media workshop ‘Vartalap’ was organized in Raisen district by PIB Bhopal last June.

Dr. Usha Ajay Singh, Divisional Commissioner, Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Caste Welfare Department, Shahdol, elaborated on the PM Jan Man Yojana. She detailed the ongoing work in Shahdol under this scheme and shared information about various other schemes, including the PM Awas Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

Ajay Srivastava, Assistant Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, Shahdol Division, discussed the Jal Jeevan Mission, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2019. He explained that the main objective of the scheme is to provide clean water to rural and urban households through domestic tap connections and presented the progress made in Shahdol district under this mission.

The program also featured an exhibition by the Central Bureau of Communication’s Shahdol unit, showcasing the central government’s development schemes. Dr. Satyendra Sharan, Deputy Director of PIB Bhopal, conducted the event and delivered the vote of thanks.
