CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Meenakshi (India) Limited has announced a split of its equity shares. The company has decided to split each share with a face value of Rs 10 into two shares with a face value of Rs 5 each. The move is aimed at increasing trading liquidity in the shares and making participation more accessible for retail investors.
The company has fixed October 30, 2026, as the record date for the split. The information was disclosed in a communication issued by the company to the stock exchange. After the split, eligible shareholders holding shares as on the record date will receive two shares of Rs 5 face value for every one share of Rs 10 face value held. For example, if an investor holds 100 shares before the split, the investor will hold 200 shares after the split.
The process does not automatically increase an investor’s proportional holding in the company. While the number of shares will increase, the face value per share will be halved. The market price may also adjust in line with the split ratio, although the actual market value will depend on demand and supply and other factors.
According to the company, the objective of the stock split is to make the shares more accessible for investors, increase trading liquidity in the market and encourage participation by retail investors. Generally, the availability of a larger number of shares with a lower face value reduces the trading unit for investors, though it does not guarantee an increase in the share price or returns on investment.
The company’s proposal for the stock split was approved by shareholders at the annual general meeting held on September 28, 2026. The company subsequently fixed October 30, 2026, as the record date. Investors should verify details related to the implementation of the split through their demat accounts and relevant stock exchange announcements.
