CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between AIIMS Bhopal and the Tata Institute for Genetics and Society (TIGS), Bengaluru. The MoU was signed by Professor Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, and Rakesh Mishra, Director of TIGS.
On this occasion, Professor Singh emphasized the need to explore the relationship between diseases and the environment. He highlighted the importance of understanding how environmental factors affect DNA and how to mitigate these effects. Professor Singh posed the question of whether the environment is altering genetics, pointing out that many mysteries remain unsolved. He stressed the need to consider what contributions we can make to society and expressed hope that the MoU would greatly benefit AIIMS students and faculty through exchange programs.
Rakesh Mishra, Director of TIGS, stated that TIGS is committed to addressing challenges in human health and agriculture by developing science-based solutions. TIGS aims to promote health equity by providing affordable and quality diagnostics and treatments for rare genetic disorders, as well as preventing infectious diseases. He noted that TIGS is dedicated to solving the country’s social problems by adopting cutting-edge science and technology.
The event was attended by representatives from TIGS, as well as senior officials and faculty members from AIIMS Bhopal.
