Meta has unveiled its new Meta VR glasses, which the company described as a device designed to take the virtual reality experience to a new level. According to the company, the glasses have been developed to offer experiences such as a personal cinema, workplace use, watching sports and gaming in a single device. They weigh around 100 grams.
The Meta VR glasses feature a 5K micro-OLED display. They include technologies such as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, which could allow films and other visual content to be viewed with greater clarity and impact. The company also described it as the first virtual reality device to be certified IMAX Enhanced.
For gaming, the glasses will offer more than 75 games that can be controlled through hand gestures. In addition, access to hundreds of other games will be available through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Meta AI has also been integrated directly into the glasses, enabling users to carry out several tasks through voice, eye and hand gestures. According to the company, sales of the Meta VR glasses will begin in spring 2027, with a starting price of US$1,299.99.
