CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Microsoft has launched its new cloud region named India South Central in Hyderabad. It is the company’s fourth cloud region in India and has been designed specifically for advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud workloads. Microsoft’s cloud regions are already operating in Pune, Chennai and Mumbai.
The new region has three separate Availability Zones, each with independent power, cooling and networking arrangements. According to Microsoft, this will help ensure greater reliability and continuity for critical digital services. Capacity for Azure and AI services will be expanded here. Microsoft said organisations such as Adani Group, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and PB Pay have started using the new region. According to the company, the Hyderabad-based cloud infrastructure will help organisations keep data in India and meet regulatory requirements.
The launch is part of Microsoft’s $20.5 billion investment commitment in India. The company said the new data centre effectively uses zero water for cooling. Microsoft said that with the growing use of AI in India, demand for local and secure cloud infrastructure is also increasing. According to Microsoft, its new Hyderabad cloud region will serve as a strategic AI infrastructure hub not only for India but also for Asia and the Global South. The company described it as an important step towards expanding India’s AI and digital economy.
