CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Higher Education, Technical Education, and AYUSH Minister Inder Singh Parmar emphasized preparing a three-month action plan to ensure the effective use of the available budget for the holistic development of students and quality enhancement in colleges. Minister Parmar was reviewing the Higher Education Department on Monday at the Secretariat. Additional Chief Secretary Anupam Rajan, Higher Education Commissioner Nishant Barbade, and other officials were present at the meeting.
Minister Parmar instructed that exams for students should be conducted only in government institutions and directed the preparation of a comprehensive action plan to maintain the integrity of exams. He also stressed ensuring the participation of alumni in the holistic development of colleges and making maximum efforts to benefit eligible students from departmental scholarship schemes.
The Minister discussed various points concerning students’ welfare and issued necessary guidelines. A detailed review was conducted on the budget allocation for the financial year 2024-25, the expenditure status, and departmental preparations for the upcoming fiscal year.
Minister Parmar emphasized upgrading and repairing laboratories and using the available budget appropriately to complete various construction and improvement projects within the stipulated timeframe, aiming at the holistic development of college students, better teaching-learning experiences, and enhanced academic quality.
He discussed the rationalization of college admission capacities, enrolled student numbers, and available seats, providing instructions for implementation in alignment with existing infrastructure. He reviewed the status of law colleges and professional colleges and called for a comprehensive policy-based action plan for progressive quality improvement.
Minister Parmar also reviewed the preparations for student admissions for the 2025-26 session, aiming to make the “College Chalo Abhiyan” a success and achieve a progressive increase in the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER).
The current state and upcoming plans for online departmental activities were reviewed, and the Minister gave instructions for implementing alumni programs to involve former students in the development of colleges. A directive was issued to establish a state-level data center, “Vidya Samiksha Kendra,” and to prepare a time-bound “Teacher Training Policy” combining online and offline methods.
Discussions were also held on increasing faculty at the undergraduate level and starting postgraduate classes. Minister Parmar reviewed various scholarship schemes and public service-related issues, providing necessary guidance. He instructed officials to complete the probation period processes for government employees in a timely manner and to ensure prompt action on pending court cases related to the department.
Lastly, Minister Parmar directed the completion of the process for filling vacant posts in colleges and universities within the specified timeframe and assigning higher positions to departmental officers as per standards.
