CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A case of alleged gang rape of a minor girl has been reported near Kalkaji temple in Delhi. According to police, the girl had reached Kalkaji temple with a minor friend on Monday evening. The two later went towards nearby Astha Kunj Park, where three youths allegedly stopped and threatened them after claiming to be police personnel.
Police said the accused allegedly restrained the girl’s friend and gang-raped the minor. Police received information about the incident at around 8:45 pm. A police team then reached the spot and the victim was sent for medical examination. Action is being taken under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections.
Police have arrested one accused in the case. According to reports, the accused has been identified as Asif. He was caught in the early hours of Tuesday after a brief encounter with police. Police said the accused sustained a bullet injury in his leg and is undergoing treatment.
Police have launched a search for the remaining two accused. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is also being examined to verify the sequence of events and identify the accused. The investigation is continuing.
