In this context, Union Home Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah is likely to reach Lucknow on October 30. The party’s two-day state working committee meeting is proposed for October 30 and 31. However, information on official confirmation of his visit and the meeting schedule is not yet clear.
Focus likely on strengthening the organisation According to media reports, the meeting may discuss issues such as election preparations, organisational activities and expanding the party’s reach at the grassroots level. Activating booth committees, increasing workers’ participation and taking information about central and state government schemes to the people are among the possible agenda items.
Eyes also on SP-Congress alliance In Uttar Pradesh, talks have begun between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress over seat-sharing for the 2027 Assembly elections. The Congress has said it has shared a list of its preferred seats with the SP. However, no agreement has yet emerged on the final distribution of seats. In such a situation, BJP’s strategic meetings are likely to discuss the political position of the opposition alliance and regional equations. Maintaining coordination with allies over seat-sharing may also be an important organisational issue for the BJP.
Booth management and social equations important After the BJP’s results in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party faces the challenge of further strengthening its organisation. In its upcoming preparations, issues such as the activity of workers at the booth level, outreach to various social groups and contact with beneficiaries of government schemes may be important.
