CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In order to increase the acceptance of family welfare services, a Mission Family Development Fortnight is being organized in the state. During this period, health department teams are reaching out to targeted couples to provide information about permanent and temporary family planning methods such as sterilization, IUD, Antara injection, oral pills, Chhaya tablets, and condoms.
Health workers are visiting households and encouraging beneficiaries to use these methods. Last year, the district witnessed 12,088 sterilization surgeries, 4,855 IUD/ PPIUCD insertions, and 766 Antara injections.
As part of the fortnight, newlywed couples are being encouraged to register their marriages, and new initiative kits are being distributed to them. These kits include cosmetics, information on contraceptive methods, condoms, birth control pills, and pregnancy test kits.
Awareness rallies are spreading messages like “Have your first child after two years,” “Have your second child after three years,” and “Sterilization after two children.” Chief Medical and Health Officer, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, stated that financial incentives are being provided for family planning procedures, such as ₹3,000 for male sterilization, ₹3,000 for female sterilization, ₹2,000 for interval sterilization, ₹300 for PPIUCD, and ₹100 for the Antara injection. These services are regularly provided free of charge at health institutions.
