CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: Under the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer Manish Sharma and the direction of District Malaria Officer Smrita Namdev, MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani of Bhopal district’s South-West area flagged off a malaria awareness rath as part of Malaria Month June 2026. The entire staff of the District Malaria Office was present on the occasion.
During the programme, the MLA expressed happiness over the decline in malaria cases in the district. He praised the excellent work being done by the District Malaria Office and encouraged officials to make disease-control activities even more effective. The District Malaria Office team and supervisors from all zones were present at the launch.
In the same sequence, MBBS internship students of Allen Medical College, Bhopal, were given detailed information in the District Malaria Office laboratory about the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme. The students were informed about disease identification, prevention and control activities. Microscopic training related to malaria and filaria was provided by lab in-charge Gita Lakshmi, Annapurna, Neeraj and Deepika.
On the occasion of Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026, an awareness and screening camp was organised in the Gond settlement at Ward No. 1 under Community Health Centre, Gandhinagar. At the camp, members of the local tribal community were informed about the symptoms of malaria and dengue, as well as measures for prevention and control.
Health officials said that mosquitoes spreading dengue and malaria breed in clean and stagnant water. They advised people to maintain cleanliness in and around their homes, prevent water from accumulating, keep water tanks covered, wear clothes that cover the whole body, use mosquito nets and apply mosquito repellents.
Those present at the programme included Sanjeevani Clinic Ward 1 Medical Officer Amit Vishwas, district VBD consultant Ruchi Silkari, Malaria Inspector Mrs Urmila Singh, Malaria Inspector Ram Narayan Navik and Gandhinagar Malaria Inspector Satish Tiwari.
