CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: With the objective of providing passengers clean, safe and convenient station premises, the Bhopal division of West Central Railway, under the guidance of DRM Pankaj Tyagi, is making the cleanliness system more effective at seven major stations of the division, including Narmadapuram, Guna, Harda, Ganj Basoda, Vidisha, Ashoknagar and Sant Hirdaram Nagar. For this, an outcome-based mechanized tender has been awarded for these stations. Earlier, the system was manual. Along with regular cleaning at these stations, special emphasis is being placed on keeping the station premises clean and orderly through the use of modern machines and equipment.
Platforms, waiting rooms, foot overbridges, offices and the station premises are being cleaned regularly. To improve the cleaning system, modern battery-operated cleaning machines, vacuum cleaners, jet pressure machines and single-disc scrubber-polishers are being used. With the help of these machines, dust, dirt and stains accumulated on floors are being removed effectively, while deep cleaning of platforms and other areas is also being ensured.
The railway administration is also paying special attention to cleanliness, waste management, waste disposal and regular inspection arrangements in station premises so that passengers can get a clean and better environment at all times. Four types of dustbins are being provided at stations for waste disposal, covering wet, dry, sanitary and electronic waste.
The use of machines for cleanliness is improving the quality of cleaning work, while larger areas are being cleaned more effectively in less time. The aim is to keep station premises clean and orderly and to further improve passengers’ travel experience.
The railway administration has appealed to passengers to put waste only in the designated dustbins at station premises and in trains, cooperate in maintaining station cleanliness and fulfil their responsibility in keeping public places clean and beautiful. Action is being taken under the Jan Vishwas Act against those spreading filth in station premises.
