CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not participate in the General Debate of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) scheduled later this month. The UN has released an updated provisional list of speakers, revealing that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will represent India and deliver the national address on September 27.
This marks a shift from the earlier plan, where PM Modi was slated to speak on September 26. The high-level General Debate is set to occur from September 23 to 29, with US President Donald Trump scheduled to address the Assembly on September 23. The theme for this year’s session is “Better Together: 80 Years and More for Peace, Development, and Human Rights.
” The session will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and address pressing global issues such as climate change, gender equality, and international conflicts. While the speaker list remains provisional and subject to change, this development underscores India’s active diplomatic engagement on the global stage.
