CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Tuesday approved several major decisions related to infrastructure, technical education, rural employment, dairy development and the health sector. The government approved development and welfare proposals worth around Rs 41,000 crore in all.
Revised cost of Bhopal Western Bypass approved
The Cabinet gave revised administrative approval for the 35.61-km Bhopal Western Bypass. It will be a four-lane bypass with paved shoulders. The total financial cost of the project is around ₹3,225.51 crore and it will be developed under the hybrid annuity model. Pre-construction activities will be funded from the state budget at a cost of ₹548.29 crore.
Once built, the bypass will provide an alternative route for vehicles passing through Bhopal, especially traffic travelling from Jabalpur and Narmadapuram towards Indore. After changes in the project, the route length has also been reduced, with the government claiming that travel distance will be cut by around 21 km.
Environmental and wildlife protection will also be taken into account during the project. Underpasses are planned for the movement of wildlife in sections passing through the Ratapani area.
RGPV to be reorganised
A major Cabinet decision was related to technical education. The reorganisation of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) has been approved. Under this, three separate technology and skill universities will be established.
Under the new arrangement:
Madhya Bharat Technology and Skill University – Bhopal
Malwa Technology and Skill University – Ujjain
Mahakoshal Technology and Skill University – Jabalpur
The aim of these universities is to make technical education more effective at the regional level and link it with skill development and employment.
Major decision on rural employment scheme
The Cabinet approved the implementation of the ‘Viksit Bharat: VBG-RAM-G’ scheme in Madhya Pradesh. Under the scheme, there is a provision to guarantee 125 days of wage employment in a year to willing adult members of rural families. Expenditure of ₹3,183 crore is estimated for 2026-27, while about ₹26,436 crore is estimated for the period from 2026-27 to 2030-31.
Dairy sector and Sanchi brand to get a boost
The government also approved a dairy development scheme worth around ₹2,973 crore to strengthen the cooperative dairy system and expand the Sanchi brand. The focus will be on milk collection, processing capacity and expansion of milk cooperative societies in rural areas.
Relief for farmers in moong procurement
The Cabinet also approved the decision to increase the procurement limit for summer moong from registered farmers under the minimum support price scheme from 25 per cent to 60 per cent. The government says this will allow farmers to benefit from government procurement of a larger share of their produce.
Through these decisions, the Mohan Cabinet has focused on strengthening road connectivity in Bhopal on the one hand, while on the other it has made major financial provisions for decentralising technical education, rural employment, the dairy sector and support for farmers.
