CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Relentless monsoon rains have brought life to a grinding halt in Himachal Pradesh, with widespread flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage paralyzing the hill state. According to official reports, over 252 roads have been closed due to landslides and washouts, severely disrupting connectivity in several districts. The estimated losses have surged to ₹751 crore, affecting both public infrastructure and private property.

The worst-hit areas include Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, and Chamba, where incessant downpours have caused river overflows, damaged bridges, and washed away rural roads. The state disaster response forces, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), are working around the clock to clear roads, rescue stranded residents, and restore essential services.

Tourists have been advised to postpone travel plans to Himachal as many regions remain inaccessible. Authorities are also monitoring dam water levels and issuing alerts in vulnerable zones. Meanwhile, the Himachal government has sought central assistance to cope with the growing crisis.

The monsoon fury in Himachal once again highlights the fragile ecological balance of hill states and the urgent need for improved disaster preparedness, sustainable infrastructure, and early warning systems.
