CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special Moon Observation Program using advanced telescopes was organized by the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal. The program aimed to encourage curiosity and foster a scientific outlook towards astronomy among science enthusiasts, students, and the general public.
It is noteworthy that the current lunar eclipse was not fully visible from Bhopal, as the main astronomical phases of the eclipse had ended by the time of moonrise. Initial assessments suggested that the chances of witnessing the eclipse were extremely low. Nevertheless, keeping public interest and scientific curiosity in mind, the Centre arranged advanced telescopes for observation.
To the pleasant surprise of participants, despite low expectations, they were able to catch a faint but clear glimpse of the Moon in its partial eclipse phase. Observing the partially obscured Moon through the Centre’s telescopes proved to be a thrilling and memorable experience for the audience.

During the program, participants were provided with scientific information about the Moon’s surface structure, craters, highlands, and plains. The astronomical process of the lunar eclipse, the relative positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun, and the scientific causes of the eclipse were also explained in a simple, logical, and scientific manner.
Students and attendees enthusiastically observed the Moon through the telescopes and had many of their astronomy-related questions answered. The program emphasized that direct observation and a logical approach are essential for understanding scientific phenomena.
Through such programs, the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal continues to promote scientific awareness, critical thinking, and interest in space science among society.
