CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In a remarkable act of selflessness, Mor Singh, a 60-year-old farm labourer from Piplodi village in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, has become a local hero. Following the tragic collapse of the village’s only school on July 25, which resulted in seven student fatalities and 21 injuries, Singh offered his two-bedroom pucca house to the education department to continue classes for the remaining 50 students. Despite his own family’s modest living conditions, Singh prioritized the children’s education over his own comfort.
Without any formal request, Singh moved his eight-member family into a makeshift hut constructed from plastic and tarpaulin on a sloped patch of land prone to flooding. At night, the family burned hay to ward off insects and snakes. The roof leaked, and the toddler slept in a hammock made from an old sari. Singh’s unwavering commitment to the community’s future has inspired many, highlighting the profound impact of individual acts of kindness and the importance of education in rural India.
