CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sangath, a leading non-governmental organization (NGO). The aim of this agreement is to collaborate on joint research to improve healthcare provision, health system reforms, health equity, chronic diseases, mental health, medical education, capacity building for healthcare professionals, and public health enhancement. This partnership is a significant step towards promoting public health in the region and improving the quality of healthcare.
The MoU was signed by Executive Professor Ajay Singh of AIIMS and Monika Baria, Chairperson of Sangath. Both parties have committed to working in good faith to achieve the objectives outlined in this agreement. The MoU also includes provisions for adding new areas of cooperation by mutual consent.
On this occasion, Prof. Singh emphasized the importance of focusing on public participation and awareness in achieving the partnership’s goals. He stated, “Our collaboration with Sangath is a critical step towards addressing major public health challenges. Our aim is to engage the public, raise awareness, eliminate social stigma, and set clear goals with timelines to ensure measurable outcomes. Removing the social stigma associated with health conditions, especially mental health, is a key objective of this partnership. People often hesitate to visit hospitals for mental health treatment. We need to tackle these challenges and ensure that people come forward for medical advice without hesitation.”
Dr. Monika Baria of Sangath expressed her enthusiasm for this collaboration, saying, “This partnership with AIIMS aligns perfectly with our mission to promote health equity and improve healthcare services for all. Together, we will work towards creating a more inclusive and effective health system, ensuring that our research benefits the communities that need it most.”
This MoU represents a shared commitment to advancing medical research and improving public health outcomes through innovative and collaborative efforts.
