CNN Central News and Network – ITDC India ePress / ITDC News Bhopal : Mountaineer Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha from Madhya Pradesh has arrived in Bhopal after hoisting the national flag on Mount Kosciuszko, the highest peak in the Australian continent. Notably, Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha is an employee of the State Water Sports Academy of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, MP. He is also recognized as the first mountaineer from Madhya Pradesh to conquer Mount Everest.

On the occasion of Independence Day and as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha reached the peak of Mount Kosciuszko first and proudly hoisted the national flag, singing the national anthem to honor the nation and the state.

**Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha Shares His Experience**

On the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha shared details of his adventurous journey, expressing patriotism and courage. He explained that there are seven top peaks in the world, including Mount Kosciuszko in the Australian continent, which stands at 2,228 meters. During the climb, temperatures ranged from -50 to -70 degrees. Eleven Indians participated in the ascent of Mount Kosciuszko. Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha reached the summit at 9:22 AM Indian time, becoming the first Indian to hoist the national flag and sing the national anthem at the peak. He traveled from Bhopal to Delhi, then from Delhi to Hong Kong, and finally from Hong Kong to Sydney. Notably, in 2023, the MP government honored Bhagwan Singh with the Vikram Award in adventurous sports and appointed him to the position of Assistant Grade-3 in the Energy Department’s government service.

Shri Kushwaha also met with Director of Sports and Youth Welfare, MP, Ravi Kumar Gupta, who congratulated him and encouraged him for his achievements.
