CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The monsoon has been highly favorable in Madhya Pradesh this year. Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, during a review at the State Flood Control Room on Monday, stated that the state has recorded 54% more rainfall than the average so far. As of now, Madhya Pradesh has received 645.20 mm of rainfall, compared to 447.40 mm during the same period last year.
The eastern region of Madhya Pradesh has seen 66% above average rainfall, while the western region has received 44% more rainfall. Due to this abundant rain, 22 major dams across the state have had to open their gates. Currently, the large reservoirs in the state are at 69.45% average capacity, significantly higher than last year’s 43.67%.
Minister Silawat has instructed that all dams and reservoirs be continuously monitored, and the flood control rooms remain fully operational. He emphasized that information regarding water release from dams should be promptly shared with the local administration and public to prevent any unexpected situations.
He added that out of 286 identified dams,

86 are filled beyond 90%,
31 are between 75–90%,
40 dams are filled between 50–75%.
Reservoir status by river basins:
Narmada Basin: Bargi – 78.36%, Tawa – 79.47%, Indira Sagar – 76%
Ganga Basin: Bansagar – 81.18%, Mahan – 81.24%
Wainganga Basin: Sanjay Sarovar – 80.31%, Pench – 53.03%
Chambal Basin: Gandhi Sagar – 48.87%, Mohanpura – 82.16%
Sindh Basin: Harsi – 113.96%, Aawda – 100%, Madikheda – 67.48%
The Bundelkhand, Chambal, and Vindhya regions have also recorded good rainfall. The minister has directed officials to act with full vigilance and promptness to prevent any loss of life or property.
