CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Amid the ongoing controversy over allegations of a paper leak in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination, reports have emerged that Tukaram Mundhe has been given responsibility in the matter. Following this development, protesting students ended their agitation. However, the identification of those responsible and confirmation of the allegations will depend on the findings of the investigation.

Suspicions of a paper leak had heightened candidates’ concerns over the transparency and fairness of competitive examinations. Students had demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter and action against those responsible if irregularities were found in the examination process. In view of the future of candidates who worked hard for the examination, time-bound and transparent action on such complaints is considered important.

The government has agreed to the formation of an inquiry commission and other demands. The commission will be chaired by former Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale, while senior IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe has been appointed secretary. The commission has been given a target of completing the inquiry and submitting its report in about 60 days. MPSC chairman Vivek Bhimanwar has also announced that he will go on leave until the inquiry is completed. Students ended their nearly 10-day agitation after the government’s assurance. The inquiry will now review the paper leak allegations, alleged irregularities in the recruitment process and the functioning of the commission. Final conclusions in the matter will become clear only after the inquiry report is submitted.
