CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A two-day workshop on the topic “How to Become a Multimedia Journalist” was organized by the Department of New Media Technology at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCU). The workshop was chaired by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari, while the keynote speaker Shweta Khanna Bhandral shared essential tips on becoming a multimedia journalist. The workshop was coordinated by the Head of the Department, Prof. P. Shashikala.

Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari informed the students about the challenges and opportunities in multimedia journalism in the present time. He stated that journalism has undergone significant changes, and students must stay updated at every moment.

Keynote speaker Shweta Khanna illustrated the workflow of a digital newsroom using the example of ‘Operation Sindoor’. She also discussed the evolving nature of media, its functioning, and the career and income opportunities it presents. Through active student participation in various activities, the topic was presented in a practical manner.

Ms. Khanna provided training on data accuracy, shooting techniques, and related practical work. She later reviewed the students’ work and offered useful suggestions. Head of Department Prof. P. Shashikala highlighted the speaker’s achievements while addressing the students and emphasized the importance of the workshop.

The objective of the workshop held the previous day was to acquaint students and faculty with the functioning of digital media newsrooms, the role of multimedia journalists, and methods of presenting news effectively. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. P. Shashikala. The organizing committee expressed gratitude to all participants, collaborators, and students. The event was attended by all students, teachers, and staff of the department.
