CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special session was organised at Madhyanchal Professional University, Bhopal, to introduce students to the real working practices of industry and the practical aspects of management. Sunil Gawande, Chief Executive Officer of Mumbai Dabbawala Enterprises Private Limited, addressed the students during the session. MPU Executive Director Isha Patel was present as the special guest.
Held on the theme “Dabbawala: On Time, Every Time and Lessons in Management,” the session saw Gawande explain key aspects related to operations management, logistics, time management, teamwork, discipline, coordination and excellence in work processes through real examples from Mumbai’s world-famous dabbawala system. He said clear responsibility, effective coordination, punctuality and team spirit are extremely important for the success of any organisation or work system. The Mumbai dabbawala model is an effective example of how large-scale work can be successfully managed through better processes and strong teamwork, even with limited resources.
During the session, students understood the functioning of the dabbawala system in detail. They got an opportunity to learn how large-scale services are operated daily through clear processes, organised division of work, better coordination and a disciplined work style. The presence of special guest Isha Patel also encouraged the students and made the opportunity to learn from industry experiences more significant.
In the question-and-answer session held on the occasion, students asked various questions related to management, workplace challenges, team operations and logistics, which were answered with practical examples. Through the interaction, students got an opportunity to connect management principles taught in the classroom with real workplace situations.
