CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal  / Mumbai  : Mumbai is abuzz with excitement as Ganeshotsav 2025 approaches on August 27. Preparations are in full swing, with pandals being decorated and mandals adding finishing touches to their idols. State Culture Minister Ashish Shelar recently announced Rs 4.5 crore for 1,800 bhajan mandals to purchase new musical instruments for the festival.

Following this, the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti urged the government to provide similar financial aid to Ganesh mandals, especially those celebrating landmark anniversaries like 25th, 50th, 75th, and 100th years. Samiti President Naresh Dahibawkar highlighted the importance of mandals, stating, “Bhajan groups cannot exist without our mandals.” The plea has also been referred to Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, who assured favorable consideration.

In Lalbaug-Parel, creativity flourishes with Chinchpokli Cha Raja’s tribute to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Ganesh Gully’s 60 x 140 ft replica of Rameshwaram temple, featuring intricate details like corridors, water tanks, and a massive Nandi bull. Hyderabad-based moortikar Akash Tirmal has designed the idol for Ganesh Gully.

Meanwhile, Parelcha Raja at Nare Park showcases a 24 ft tall Lord Ram idol and a model of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The aagman ceremony drew large crowds on August 17. Other popular attractions include Lal Maidan and Tejukaya mandals, while Lalbaugcha Raja is set to announce its theme and schedule shortly. The city eagerly awaits the festival, which has now been declared a state festival.
