CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Mumbai police have heightened security across the city after the Intelligence Bureau warned of possible terror attacks in religious places and crowded areas in the financial hub of the country.

Deputy Commissioners of Police have been asked to closely monitor security in their respective zones, and the police are conducting mock drills at possible target areas. A mock drill was done in the crowded Crawford Market area yesterday, but police said it was a security drill ahead of the festive season.

The temples in the city have been asked to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. With Navratri and Diwali coming up, the city is gearing up for festivities.

According to News24, a top police officer inspected the security of a temple in Chembur, while in Matunga, a temple was closed to devotees following a police inspection in the morning.

The state is also gearing up for assembly elections in November.
