CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Mumbai Police has achieved a major breakthrough by arresting a wanted jewellery thief from Borivali. The accused had been absconding for several months and was involved in multiple cases of jewellery theft across the city. According to police officials, the man was arrested during a special operation carried out late Sunday night.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing gold ornaments and diamonds from jewellery shops and residences in different parts of Mumbai. Police have successfully recovered gold and diamond jewellery worth more than ₹50 lakh from his possession.
The investigation revealed that the accused had a well-planned modus operandi. He used to conduct detailed recce of jewellery stores and targeted houses before committing the crime. In some cases, he also used duplicate keys and advanced tools to break into lockers.
A senior police officer stated that the arrest of this thief will help solve several pending cases of jewellery theft. The accused was produced in court and has been sent to police custody for further interrogation.
The Mumbai Police have appealed to citizens to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhood. This arrest not only provides relief to the victims of theft but also highlights the efficiency of Mumbai Police in tackling organized crimes.
