CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A grand programme and Premchand book exhibition were organised at the Coach Rehabilitation Workshop, Nishatpura, West Central Railway, Bhopal, on the occasion of the 146th birth anniversary of the great Hindi litterateur Munshi Premchand. Chief Workshop Manager Praful V. Kohade attended as the chief guest.
The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and garlanding of the portraits of Maa Saraswati and Munshi Premchand. On the occasion, Premchand Ajmera, assistant secretary of the workshop’s Cultural Academy, presented Saraswati Vandana, accompanied by Gaurav Prajapati on dholak and Sunil Jain on harmonium.
At the beginning of the programme, Liaison Official Language Officer and Assistant Personnel Officer Sandeep Sharma delivered the welcome address, presented the outline of the event and highlighted Munshi Premchand’s literary contribution.
After this, chief guest Praful V. Kohade inaugurated the Premchand book exhibition by cutting the ribbon. The special feature of the exhibition was that Premchand’s immortal works were presented in a vivid form. The exhibition displayed several attractive tableaux, including Hamid’s tongs from “Eidgah”, Hori’s cow from “Godan”, Halku’s blanket and Jabra from “Poos Ki Raat”, Jalpa’s ornaments from “Gaban”, Jokhu’s lota from “Thakur Ka Kuan”, “Thakur Ka Hukka”, Heera and Moti from “Do Bailon Ki Katha” and the chaupal from “Panch Parmeshwar”. These creative presentations brought Premchand’s literature to life and the exhibition remained the centre of attraction for all officers and employees. Those present appreciated the exhibition wholeheartedly and also took souvenir photographs at the selfie point.
On the occasion, several officers, including Hanuman Prasad Meena, Manoj Kumar Singh, Rishabh Dhakad, Akshay Gangarwal and Shivam Asathi, were present.
In the literary symposium organised as part of the programme, young railway employee-writers of the workshop, including Akhilesh Lodhi, Nitiraj Choure, Thakur Jai, Naman Chouksey, Anil Kumar Saket, Ashish Kumar Gupta, Ajay Kumar Sharma, Pawan Kharpuse and Sukhendra Sahu, read out Premchand’s timeless works and expressed their views on his personality and writings.
In his presidential address, Chief Workshop Manager Praful V. Kohade said Hindi is not merely the language of administration, but a strong link that connects thoughts and emotions. He said the simplicity and naturalness of Premchand’s language continue to inspire society to remain united. He expressed confidence that such literary events would motivate railway employees to use and promote Hindi as the official language.
He said that, as an industrial institution, the workshop has a direct relationship with labour and workers. The principle of the “dignity of labour” propounded by Premchand is the basic foundation of the workshop’s work culture. When every employee discharges their responsibilities with honesty, dedication, transparency and sensitivity, only then are Premchand’s ideas truly followed.
On the occasion, he administered a pledge to all those present to maintain honesty, transparency and complete dedication towards labour at the workplace. He also honoured all railway employee-writers who participated in the literary symposium by presenting them mementoes.
The programme was jointly conducted by Akhilesh Lodhi and Rakesh Kumar Malviya. At the end, Liaison Official Language Officer and Assistant Personnel Officer Sandeep Sharma expressed gratitude to the chief guest, officers, writers, artists of the Cultural Academy and all those who directly and indirectly contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
