Murasu impact: rain alert issued for central and southern districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 19 districts today and for 15 districts the next day. During this period, rain is expected at several places along with strong winds. Wind speeds may reach up to 50 kilometres per hour.

In view of the change in weather, people have been advised to remain alert. Rain and strong winds may affect normal life, movement and activities in open areas. Farmers also need to pay attention to the safety of crops and agricultural produce kept in fields, keeping the weather conditions in mind.

Due to the impact of Cyclone Murasu, cloudy conditions and intermittent rain are likely in the central and southern regions. Strong winds may lead to situations such as tree branches breaking and light objects kept in open areas being blown away. According to the Meteorological Department’s alert, it will be necessary to keep watch on the weather in the affected districts for the next two days. However, the intensity and impact of the rain may vary across different areas.
