CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Microbiology at Barkatullah University, Bhopal, launched a week-long skill development program on “Mushroom Cultivation and Entrepreneurship Development” starting today. The program will run until January 27, 2025, and aims to educate students about mushroom farming, its nutritional benefits, production processes, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The program was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor S.K. Jain of Barkatullah University, with a welcome address by the Head of the Department, Anita Tilwari. Highlighting the importance of the workshop, she stated, “Through this workshop, participants will gain insights into scientific methods of mushroom cultivation, cost-effective production techniques, and the economic benefits of nutritionally rich mushroom yields.” She also emphasized how mushroom production can fulfill protein and nutritional needs.
The chief guest, Vice-Chancellor S.K. Jain, inspired students with his motivational speech, encouraging them to become self-reliant. He remarked, “To become an entrepreneur, one must focus on their goal like Arjuna. Everyone possesses a skill; the key is to recognize and develop it.” He described skill development and entrepreneurship as crucial steps toward an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
Prof. Ragini Gauthalwal, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, said, “Repetition cannot lead to innovation. We must prioritize technical improvements and innovation.” She elaborated on the importance of innovation and technological advancement for students.
Prof. Neeraj Gaur, Director of BUIT, Barkatullah University, reaffirmed the university’s focus on skill development, stating that employment-oriented programs are being planned under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor. He urged students to actively participate in such initiatives.
Experts like Pooja Dubey Pandey (Founder, BETi Innovative Private Limited), Vaibhav Singh (TRA, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central University, Jhansi), and Praveen Verma (Manupra Foods Private Limited, Jhansi) will conduct sessions discussing various aspects of mushroom farming and entrepreneurship during the workshop.
Other notable attendees included Poonam Sinha (Nodal Officer, Skill Development, Barkatullah University), Anshuja Tiwari, Rekha Khandia, Sunil Snehi, and faculty members of the Microbiology Department, including Jitendra Malviya, Bindu Nahar, Shailja Sharma, and Madhuri Shinde.
The program was anchored by Neelam Bisen, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Neha Paliwal.
This workshop will train students in advanced technical methods of mushroom cultivation and entrepreneurial opportunities. Participants will gain an understanding of the commercial benefits of mushroom production and explore ways to establish themselves in this field. The event is being held at the seminar hall of the Microbiology Department, Barkatullah University.
