CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Renowned Sarod player Pandit Shankar Bhattacharya said that practicing music is highly beneficial for students. They should be introduced to music education from a young age as it enhances their imagination and concentration. Pandit Bhattacharya gave a beautiful Sarod performance for the students at PM Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Raatibad. His performance, based on Raag Durga, mesmerized the students. The children appreciated the performance with a thunderous applause.
As part of the series organized under the SPIC MACAY Bhopal Chapter, Pandit Bhattacharya also performed Sarod at 7 Hills School, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, PM Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Shyampur, and Madhyanchal University. He was accompanied by renowned Tabla player Pandit Ajay Kulkarni on the Tabla.
During the performance, Pandit Bhattacharya presented a live demonstration of Raag Kirvani, Kalashri, Malhar, Durga, and Ahir Bhairav, including Alaap, Jod, and Jhala. He explained that he selects the raag based on the time of the program, the environment, and the mental state of the audience. Having spread the magic of Indian classical music in over 17 countries, Pandit Bhattacharya currently resides in Nagpur, where he also provides free music education under the Guru-Shishya tradition.
