Mumbai. Filmmaker Namit Malhotra is excited about taking his ambitious film ‘Ramayana’ to audiences across the world. Expressing his happiness over the global vision of the film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, he described it as a very special opportunity in his career. Comparing the achievement, he said it was an experience for him similar to Sachin Tendulkar getting a chance to play the World Cup with his debut.
In an interview, Namit said Indian cinema has a history of more than 100 years, and that it is a privilege for him to be part of this legacy and present an epic such as ‘Ramayana’ before the world on a scale larger than before. He said many generations of filmmakers before him had enriched Indian cinema, but getting the opportunity to present Ramayana on this scale was incredible for him.
Namit’s aim is to take Indian mythological stories to international audiences. He believes Western viewers are familiar with epics such as ‘The Odyssey’, ‘Lord of the Rings’, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Star Wars’, but there is a major possibility of introducing them to the originality and cultural significance of Ramayana.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita and Yash as Ravana. The producer hopes the film will give a new identity to the power of Indian storytelling on the global stage.
