CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Veteran Hindi and Marathi cinema actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75. He breathed his last on the morning of October 8, 2026, at his residence in Goa. According to initial information, he suffered a severe cardiac arrest. After he was taken to hospital, doctors tried to save him for about 45 minutes, but he could not be revived.
Nana Patekar’s real name was Vishwanath Patekar. He began his acting career in 1978 with the film “Gaman” and remained active in cinema for nearly five decades. His performances in films such as “Parinda,” “Krantiveer,” “Ab Tak Chhappan,” “Welcome” and “Natsamrat” earned him special recognition.
Nana Patekar received three National Film Awards for his outstanding acting. In 2013, the Government of India also honoured him with the Padma Shri. After news of the actor’s death emerged, tributes have been pouring in from Bollywood and across the country. A post-mortem process is being carried out to determine the exact medical cause of death. Doctors associated with the hospital have confirmed cardiac arrest, while the trigger behind it has not yet been stated clearly.
