CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Mumbai. Veteran actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75. He breathed his last at around 5:20 a.m. on October 8, 2026. According to reports, he suffered a severe cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. Efforts were made to revive him for about 45 minutes before and after he was taken to hospital, but doctors could not save him. A postmortem is to be conducted under medico-legal procedure in the case.

Nana Patekar was among the Indian cinema artistes who created a distinct identity in Hindi and Marathi films. He began acting in 1978 and delivered memorable performances in films such as “Parinda”, “Krantiveer”, “Agnisakshi”, “Tirangaa”, “Ab Tak Chhappan” and “Welcome”. He had three National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards to his name.

Apart from acting, Nana Patekar was also associated with the Indian Army. He held the rank of honorary lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army and spent time with the Army during the 1999 Kargil War. This contribution is also regarded as an important part of his public life. Nana Patekar remained active in films and public events in recent years as well. His last public appearance was at an event in Goa on October 4. After the news of his death emerged, a wave of grief swept through the film industry, with artistes beginning to pay tribute.
