CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: During the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Karnataka, the names of Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani and his family have appeared in the “discrepancy list” of the voter roll.
According to the report, the names of Nilekani, his wife Rohini and their two children could not be mapped with the old 2002 voter list. They have been placed in the “Unmapped with last SIR” category.
This situation is not, in itself, proof of any wrongdoing. Under the SIR exercise, old voter records are being matched with current details. Voters whose records could not be linked with the old data may be asked to submit relevant documents. The names of the Nandan Nilekani family are said to be included in the current draft voter list.
Apart from the Nilekani family, the names of Bharat Ratna award-winning scientist Professor C.N.R. Rao, Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba and other well-known people are also said to figure in the discrepancy list. However, local election officials have already denied reports that a notice was issued to C.N.R. Rao.
Information has emerged that the notice process has begun for about 43.81 lakh voters in Karnataka. The final voter list is scheduled to be published on October 27.
