CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Karnataka BJP has alleged that the Congress government in the state is favoring the so-called “Kerala lobby,” following a decision by Nandini, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) brand, to delay the launch of its dosa batter product. BJP leaders claim that this decision was influenced by business interests tied to Kerala, which they argue undermines Karnataka’s local enterprises.
The controversy erupted when KMF, a government-backed dairy cooperative, postponed its much-anticipated entry into the ready-to-cook market with its dosa batter. BJP leaders criticized the Congress government, accusing it of prioritizing Kerala-based brands over Karnataka’s iconic Nandini. The BJP claims this move could harm Karnataka’s self-reliant initiatives and affect local producers.
Congress leaders, however, dismissed these allegations, labeling them as baseless political tactics. They argued that the delay was purely operational and unrelated to external pressures. The issue has reignited debates around the protection of local businesses, interstate competition, and government influence in corporate decisions.
This controversy underscores the larger political rivalry between the BJP and Congress in Karnataka, with local brands like Nandini becoming a focal point for regional pride and political discourse.
